I absolutely love milk. Because I drink this delicious, refreshing beverage every day, I couldn’t imagine my life without it. Unfortunately, some people are lactose intolerant. How Breeding Affects The Quality Of Pork Bacon

Pork bacon is a staple in the south. It is used in a variety of dishes and not just for breakfast. However, if you want pork that is raised on a natural diet, then heritage Tamworth pork bacon is an excellent starting point.

Many families are changing the way they eat and leaning towards a more organic diet. This means supporting family farms that raise animals on a natural diet without the aid of antibiotics. Read on to find out how breeding affects the quality of pork bacon.

What Are Heritage Breeds?

Heritage breeds are traditional livestock breeds. The term heritage is used to categorize the pure breeds of poultry and livestock. The animals are raised using the same practices used during the generation of your great-grandfathers. They were raised on industrial farms before industrial agriculture became a mainstream practice.

Today, over 99 percent of farm animals are raised on factory farms. Factory farms focus on efficiency and profit at the expense of animal welfare.

On the other hand, heritage breeds are carefully bred and selected to develop traits that make them adaptable to the local environment. This type of breeding allows the animals to thrive under farming practices that are different from modern agriculture.

Bacon Breed

A tamworth pig is one of the breeds that fall up under heritage pork breeds. It is a domestic pig that originate from Tamworth, United Kingdom. The animal is resilient, strong and hearty, which is the reason why this species was imported to the United States.

The Tamworth pig was a good candidate for the growing urban farm movement. These animals thrived on low energy food and grew very slowly, which why they were called the bacon breed.

What Makes This Bacon Different?

Tamworth meat is robust and has a strong flavor. It is one of the leanest cuts of pork under the heritage breed. The leanest makes it a good source of jowl and bacon. This pork also has a very balanced flavor.

These things make it different from bacon that comes from a pig that was given antibiotics. You are not going to get the same flavor or lean texture. Most people want real food not food that has been altered with chemicals.

Many people want to change over to an organic diet, but do not want to pay the price. After you taste meat that comes from natural farming practices, you will not want to go back to food that does not use this practice. For more information, contact companies like SP Ranches.
