Milk Substitutes for Those Who Are Lactose Intolerant

I absolutely love milk. Because I drink this delicious, refreshing beverage every day, I couldn’t imagine my life without it. Unfortunately, some people are lactose intolerant. Therefore, they can’t safely drink traditional milk from a cow. Thankfully, many tasty substitutes to cow’s milk exist. Almond milk is one of my favorite alternative’s to cow’s milk. Many people also enjoy the texture and taste of soy milk, hazelnut milk, rice milk, coconut milk, and oat milk. On this blog, I hope you will discover the joy of specialty foods. Even if you or a friend can't enjoy the "real thing," there are plenty of foods left to enjoy.

Benefits Of Eating Sauerkraut

One of the more interesting food that people have the opportunity to prepare is sauerkraut. It's a type of raw cabbage that surprisingly has a lot of health benefits associated with it. Here are some that you might consider if you're trying to be better about your health.

Strengthen Bones

Having weak bones isn't a good thing, but unfortunately, this problem can happen as you start getting older. If you want to get some bone strength back without having to take a bunch of supplements and perform a bunch of exercises, you can eat sauerkraut.

It includes vitamin K and this is capable of improving bone metabolism. That means bone growth. You can eat sauerkraut and give your bones added strength because they'll continue to grow and remain stable. If you have a bone condition or are just getting older an age, this is an important benefit.

Easy to Digest

If you attempted to eat raw cabbage as opposed to sauerkraut, then you may find it a little hard to digest. That can lead to a couple of negative things, such as feeling sick to your stomach and not being able to focus throughout the day.

Sauerkraut is unique in that it has been fermented where bacteria has already started to break down this food. That's going to make it a lot easier to digest overall. Even if you eat a lot of sauerkraut in one sitting, you shouldn't have trouble digesting it and benefitting in different ways.

Improve Memory

There is some good research on the relationship between gut and the brain. This is known as probiotics. Well there are actually a lot of foods that can improve both the gut and brain, which, in turn, can help improve the memory.

Sauerkraut is one of these food items because of its fermented design. It's good for your digestive tract and when your digestive system is firing on all cylinders, your mind can become more clear. If you have a lifestyle where you need to be sharp during the day, then eating a lot of sauerkraut may be something you really look into.

Sauerkraut is often associated with odd odors, but if you can get past them, this food might be worth considering for a healthier diet. Since it has been fermented, it comes with a lot of great benefits that you might need in order to enjoy an overall healthier lifestyle throughout the year.
